What comes to mind when you think of holiday treats? Most likely it’s cookies, candy canes, or anything chocolate-based. I think one of the most exciting parts of the holiday season is the assortment of festive holiday drinks. This Moscow Mule Mocktail recipe is the perfect non-alcoholic way to indulge this holiday season.
Poppi Prebiotic Soda has been one of my favorite drinks to turn to for creating fun non-alcoholic drinks. These sodas are made with real fruit juice, are low in sugar, and have apple cider vinegar added in for gut health support. They’re my favorite thing to add into mixed drinks to give them some carbonation and sweetness.
This Moscow Mule Mocktail recipe uses the Ginger Lime Poppi flavor to give it that fresh carbonated lime flavor we’re used to tasting in Moscow Mules. It’s the perfect refreshing mocktail drink that everyone in your family can enjoy this holiday season!
Ingredients Needed
To make this delicious and refreshing Moscow Mule Recipe you’ll need the following ingredients:
- Sugar: We’ll begin by dipping the rim of a glass cup in the sugar to give it a sugar rim. This ensures every sip is sweet and gives your glass a fancy and elevated look. We’ll only use about 2 tbsp for this recipe, each glass will have less than that on the rim.
- Lime: We’ll use the juice of a lime to give this drink a distinctly citrus flavor. One lime will be enough juice for two mocktails.
- Honey: For this recipe, you’ll only need 1 tbsp of honey. This gives the drink a natural and light sweetness. The drink will also get a sweet flavor from the sugar rim and the Poppi.
- Ginger-lime Poppi: The star of this drink! The ginger-lime flavor is very similar to that of Sprite, so you could also make this with a can of Sprite, but I enjoy using Poppi for the added health benefits. You’ll only need one can to make two mocktails, so this could be your perfect excuse to buy one can just to try it!
- Mint leaves: I get my mint leaves at Trader Joe’s, they always have a good variety of prepackaged fresh herbs that are perfect for homemade mocktails or cocktails. These are not only a beautiful garnish, but they give the drink a subtle minty flavor. I think the added mint leaves are what makes this drink so refreshing. You’ll only need about 3-4 leaves for this recipe.
- Ice: If you have crushed ice that would be even better, but I used regular ice cubes and that seemed to work great for this recipe. You’ll need enough to fill half a glass, so gauge based on your personal preference and glass size.
Equipment Required
This recipe is so simple, there is no fancy equipment required. Of course, if you have a cocktail shaker available to you, you’re welcome to use it. I didn’t have one on hand and was able to make do with the following:
- Two glasses
- Spoon or Cocktail Stirrer
That’s all you’ll need! This recipe is as easy as adding the ingredients to a glass and mixing them.

Recipe Tips
Answering any questions you may have about this Moscow Mule Mocktail recipe. If you don’t see the answer to your question below feel free to leave a comment!
Making this drink alcoholic
If you’d rather opt for the cocktail version of this drink, it’s a very easy addition to this recipe. Moscow mules are traditionally made with Vodka. I would mix in 5 oz of Vodka with the lime juice, honey, and 1/4 cup of Poppi. This cocktail would still taste good with tequila or gin, so really use whatever sounds best to you!
Poppi Substitutes
Poppi can be a little more difficult to find than the average soda, so if you’re having trouble finding them at your local grocery store, you can always opt for a can of Sprite instead. I think the ginger-lime flavor of Poppi tastes very similar to Sprite. You would still be able to get the sweet lime flavor from Sprite, so again feel free to swap as you see fit.
